hello,
yesterday, i was arrested for DWI while sleeping in a car that was parked in a parking lot. right after i drove 2 miles from a restaurant where i drank the alcohol, i realized that i shouldn't drive so i pulled over my car in the parking lot which was empty. i fell asleep for a while and at that point cop came and did some basic physical test on me which i passed. he asked me if i was drunk and i told him that i am little dunk so at that moment the cop arrested me. now i am charged with 5th degree misdemeanor of DWI which is the lowest offense of any DWI in the state i am living. i was charged because i was intoxicated while i am in a physical control of a car . they let me go the same night and i got my car today which they towed away. now I have to go to court after month and half to plead guilty or no guilty of the charge. i have contacted DWI lawyer and they are going to get back to me for free consultation on business weekdays as it is weekend right now

I understand that i have made a very stupid mistake to drive the car under influence and now i will face a hefty and serious consequences. i am greatly regretting my action every time i think about this whole incident. when i think about how it is going to impact my daily life with permanent criminal record on my file, i feel like crying. this has been one of the most painful moment of my life as it is going to impact like green-card processing, job and many more other stuff.

can somebody please share any stories of DWI and how it has impact yours life or any suggestions that you might have for me. i would greatly appreciate that.

Thank you

Dolphin,
Sad to hear ur story..U learnt the lesson the hard way..a week back i was driving while Fully Drunk..Nothing happened to me and no cops pulled me over but i learnt the lesson that day i am not going to drive again even if i have a sip of beer..DWI can have serious consequences rite now ..esp after the Virgina Tech massacre by korean student(Yeah i know he wasn't drunk).but after that "They have stepped up to scrutnise ppl filing for Permanent Residence and if there is a case of  Moral torpitude ..have seen couple of cases where they have adjudicated DWI and DUI falls under that..Hire  a good lawyer and do as what he says..This is not the time to save money..
