Yuwa Manch was very famous for straightly lifting materials from Indian C-grade magazines. So, you were more than likely to find news such as "A man gets pregnant" (with a fake photo), or "A doctor takes out tongue while doing dental surgery in Albania". Anything was a fair game. The staffs in the newspaper copied those stuffed from Indian magazines and translated them into Nepalese. Of course, no credit was given to the Indian magazines.

I remember those incidences today as I read this news clip in Saptahik:

My view is that the author probably lifted it from some C-grade paper. I checked for the book mentioned in the article and found none. Nor did I find the name of the professor as the head of department of biology in UC in my google search. My google and amazon search for the book was also unable to return the book.

Just to make the article sound reliable, the author faked pretty much everything.  I hope he wrote the source of his article in the paper version...

Yes, but it is not what is claimed in Saptahik. The article says the writer is the head of Biology at University of California! I don't see the book either.

Nepali news papers just copy from Indian news papers, this doesn't mean that Indian news papers provide good reading material.  They some of are paid opinion ( from big business house, govt and foreing agents) to influence general public opinion. Same is true with so called Western media, there are also lots of reading material (articles which appear to be indepenent but in reality they are funded by different business interest.

So, after reading one article we have choice just take the message from the article (if it is beneficial to you ) or try to analyze and verify  from different resources. In Democracy public opinions are of great importance that's why business houses, security agencies, political parties and government all try to shape the public opinion in their favor.

Regarding the informative reading material like that published in Saptahik just a prove that Nepalese journalism still has to walk a lot.
