With the next presidential elections being just around the corner in November, 2012, the cover story on Newsweek on "The First Gay President" did not go too well in the Democrat side of the political sphere. Observers have claimed that the cover story blatantly tarnishes the image of the president among anti-gay voters. The Obama campaign have noted that this is more of a personal defamation.
In an unexpected turn of events, Barack Obama has come forward today with a press release on the Newsweek debacle.
White House, Washington DC
Dear Freedom loving citizens,
This week's edition of Newsweek has over stepped its boundaries. It has clearly stepped over the boundary of a public position into my own personal world.
When calling me gay, they not only tarnished my image they have made it difficult for my whole family. Let me be clear. I do not want anyone to say to my children that their father is gay. It is absolutely horrendous if it is not true and it leaves emotional scars on children for as long as they live.
Make no mistake, I will not be sitting quietly while an institution such as Newsweek is out there to slander me and my family.
Let me be clear. My counsel and I have been contemplating on filing charges against Newsweek for slander. If you support this initiative you can join the facebook page "
Obama is not Gay" and show the world what kind of lairs Newsweek is.
Thank you.
