Chiranjivi Wagle -- a politician from Gorkha, and a man with a deviously brilliant
mind which he put to amass untold wealth for himself-- has finally been hit with
a jail sentence and a steep fine.
Surprisingly, Wagle is absconding, and has chosen not to be defensive
as of now.
That's so . . . well, un-Wagle-esque.
Wagle's Congressi buddies prefer to remain mum, of course. You won't find them condemning Wagle at all. I guess it's some kind of unwritten Nepali code of honour to protect your court-certified corrupt buddy as long as he swears by your politics.
Is Wagle's political career finished?
No, not at all.
Behind that impasive face is a deviously clever mind, and, mark my words,
Wagle will be back to take his 'badla' in a deviously sneaky way. One can almost
sense the quiet fury engulfing him in his hideout.
Won't be surprised if he becomes a Justice Minister in three years from now!!
This is Nepal, after all.
I mean, they all do come back, don't they?
NOBODY in Nepali political scene has ever LEFT politics forever because of some
proven or unproven corruption charges.
Look at Bharat Mohan.
A few months ago, he was being hauled up by the CIAA on various charges of corruption.
Now he is the Finance Minister.
