Write your opinion to change the name of Kathmandu Metro city to
Kantipur Metropolitan City. It was unfair to Kantipures to lose the
original name of the town and move to new name.

I am not saying that Kathmandu should be abolished completely.
The name of the district should continue to be Kathmandu, so that
both have fairly good recognition.

Change Kathmandu City to Kantipur Nagari as Bhanu Bhakta said.

I'd stick to Kathamandu. That name sounds so exotic and a lot fo people say " I want to go to Kathmandu, Nepal at least once in my lifetime".

Even for me, being a Nepali and a native of Kathmandu, Kantipur doesn't do the same thing as Kathmandu. When I see the name "Kathmandu" , I feel something inside and connects me with Nepal, for e.g., appearence of word Kathmandu in CNN, BBC both online and TV, Time, Newsweek, my airline ticket to Nepal, passport; conversation with fellow Nepali or foreigners etc. etc. I want to stick to Kathmandu.

Why change the name? If one really wants CHANGE, then there are better things to change than the name of the city. KATHMANDU connects me to the heart of the city. It's fine, It's fine... Being a Kathmandubasi, it's fine with me...

Why do we always have to do the things that Indian's did? Tada in India, Tada in Nepal, NRI for non resident Indians, NRN for Nepalese... wtf... Bombay to Mumbai, Kathmandu to Kantipur? eh... what next? Nepal to Nepalaya? Rhymes with Himalaya and gives true meaning of Nepal.

There are a million things that have priority right now than discussing about changing name of Kathmandu.

And who is stopping naming Kathmandu Kasthamandap? Myanmar ki Burma? Bombay ki Mumbai? Calcutta ki kalKatta? St. Petersburg ki Leningrad ki pheri St. Petersburg? Name what's in a name? It is just human folly. Lets just name everything a, b, c... or better yet give numbers. That way we will all have unique identity....

LOL... Chora chori ko naam pani A, B, C, D rakhnu parla. That way we don't have to ask if B is jetho or mailo. :) A is always Jetho than B... ahh... might be really helpful for the person who has bunch of nati-natinas... "Oh you are talking about my C naatini? she was born before D, E and F naatini" hehe... Whoever thought of number system for the streets of NYC lai pani mannu parcha... If you wanna go to 45th street, nakshai hernu pardaina. It's obvious that 45th street is going to appear after 42nd street. Natra ta kata ho kata ho... :P hmmmm.... still got 20 more minutes... :P

Kathmandu or Kantipur or Kasthamandap, call it by any name, it's still the same. My home, where my heart is. It's pity that, NOW, the pretty picture of my Kathmandu belies the reality underneath.

Why bother changing the name? Will Nepal as a nation and Ktm as a city gain anything GP ji? Nooo for REAL? And now KATHMANDU kindda has a special attachment with most of us. Kindda "rings" a bell ya know.

Me says, there are other imminent matters to be addressed which are far more important.

Newari ma " Maa" bhana, Nepalli ,a "Ama" bhana, ya naya dhacha ma " Mamu" bhana, artha ta yeutai ho.

I do understand your feelings and emotions. Feelings can be changed as
time comes. Public debate could be worth in this topic. Sooner or later
some one will raise this issue. So, I raised it. If the old names Lalitpur,
Kirtipur, Bhaktapur are alive, then Kantipur should also be brought to
alive. These are my feelings.
