Guys!! I just read this news. Source: Parewa.com How weird is that? Why would you put those poor soldiers into Jail? Now everything is going good and we don't care about those army men who had put their life in threat staying all night awake in those remote places. We care about these maoists armies' future and don't care these army men present. What do the army officials expect from these army men? Keep fighting till they die even though they don't get any backup from the state? This is Ridiculous!!! :(

CaMoFLaGeD, army rules... dictates that 1. u fight till the ammo runs out 2. till u die 3. never surrender ur weapon. these ppl are "bhagodas" i.e. who deserted and 2 of their fellow soldiers died. Based on that, they betrayed their fellow soldiers to save their own skin... i.e. they ran away while the other two were killed because they were outnumbered. so they were court martialed and honorably discharged. means that they can work in other govt. service.. If i know NA, for similar instances, ppl were discharged such that cud never ever get any govt. service. how can u expect ur soldiers to run away from the battle ground and leave ur comrades to die. they do not deserve to be there. just my 2 cents... The army rules cited by thapap is true indeed. However, where are the rule and regulation when it comes to Pyarajung Thapa? He is still in the power even after so many things have happened. Wasn't he the one who played the key role in suppression by the former regime? He becomes a true sipahi just by saying he is with the Nepal Sarkar and Prachanda becomes a sage just by shaking hand with the SPA. Now they have taken back the terrorist tags from maoists but still are prosecuting someone for not fighting with them.

there is also a rule, i mean it is acceptable, if armies come to know that they can not win the other side, then they can either surrender to them or run away so that they can save their own lives. How is this cowardious in the case of those 6 of the corps? I agree with the poster that it is just ridiculous to take any action against those.

harkey jyu, army goes 2 war AS ORDERED MY GOVERNMENT. Doesnot matter OLD or NEW. Army does not dictate or Label... Govt tell them who to fight and that's what they do... now I am not defending any individual but that's what POLICE/ARMY and CIVIL SERVICE i.e. PUBLIC SERVANTS suppose to do... FOLLOW THE ORDER OF THE RULER. whoever that may be.... these institution may have their individual process and procedures for operation. and they are bound to that. IN ADDITION THEY FOLLOW TO FULFILL OBJECTIVE OF THE GOVT. hoina ra... if these institution starts thinking what to do and what not to do then there would b a big chaos hoina ra.. ===================================================== as always what do i know (O:

My point is: How can a state expect 6 guys fight against unknown numbers of Gurrillas? Why can't government punish those army official for not providing the backup support to these poor guys? There are so many incidents, where so many armymen ran away and their arms were looted. Did we punish these army officials and army intelligence? There might be rules about these wars but as we all had already known that this result was surely to come, ie, the terrorist tag was surely to be lifted. What is the rule now? Where is the rule? I am just trying to be practical. The state itself is saying that the war itself was of no use. It is trying to keep those militia into Nepal Army and still punishing to these poor soldiers, who ran away while fighting against their to-be-co workers. That would make sense if the war was still going on. All the maoists prisoners are freed and The state is still punishing these armymen. I don't know how you guys feel about it, but I think we need to keep their morale high. Thanks

Thaha Payen ji, Then how come all the chiefs of police sector got suspended? Didn't they also followed the RULER no matter it was OLD or NEW? The suspension of the Chief of army was not to punish him to follow the old regime, but to make the investigation regarding supression of the movement more transparent, so that he won't try to hide or destroy any evidence, which by now might have already vanished into thin air. I didn't say that they should start thinking what to do and what no to, but hey at least they thought for themselves when it came to go to PM niwas and give them suggestion or threat not to touch the NA.
