Hi guys, I feel that the number of Sajha-visitors is going sharp downhill these days for some reason. Dunno, if San's hit-counter reflect this or not (there are plenty of web experts here in Sajha who might find Sajha getting more popular based on some indices though), but definitely the threads floating on Sajha do not show that they attract as many visitors as they did in the past. Only few threads are hot and are capable attracting visitors back. Discussions are less informative and often found turn into mud slinging and abusive war of words after a couple of posts. Also, I don't feel Sajha.com is in good shape in technical merits as well, (for example, frequent server down problems; unattractive flashy advertisements; excessive use of small fonts etc.). Just wanted to know if guys think same too?

Hope, San will take these comments as a way of constructive suggestion for him to improve than Sajha bashing.

Dear San

Is there anyway you can restore the edit feature on older posts? It only works on newer posts.

Thanks.

Yes, It's popularity is certainly going down.

Reasons:
1. Use of very foul language.
2. Some arrogant people here just to malign others' name in case they do not like their views. Use of defamatory words against other Sajha Users for having different views.
3. In the name of freedom, no moderation of topics. So, very few topics are of good taste.
4. Excessive advertisements in very flashy manner; too much on the home page and not in proper sequence.
5. May be because of Ramjham and Sajhashansar, people are scattered.

Need to be done something, otherwise, people use other forums for their voice.

(When in Rome, do as the Romans do)

आउनुस्, केही सांगीतिक कोसेलीहरु स्वीकार गर्नुहोस् मेरो तर्फबाट ।

Listen all, Don't blame ANY members out there for the way the situation is headed.  Its upto YOU to make a change.  Why don't YOU go ahead and start some constructive topics instead?  Why not have YOURSELF take the initiative to do some RESEARCH and put more insights into YOUR threads and posts for a change?  Charity begins at home and if your home is a bargain basement store, why blame the ones who're exuberant on their 5th Avenue shopping sprees??

BTW, the discussion on sajha have increased  5 fold from what it was 3 years ago, so obviously, we will have a lotta topics that are sincerely dumb whereas a few would obviously have class and elegance.  And also look at the participation here, its incredible.  I remember times when we had a mainly silent majority frequenting the discussions...Its all a part of evolution and its for US (the present members) to make this a GREAT discussion forum.  And finally, all you oldy members want the old sajha back, I think I know why?  Just coz it was more of a family monopoly...You all knew each others' name the whole nine yards.  Today it is different.  I don't need to know you and yet be a VIRTUAL buddy who only chit-chats on sajha email and threads without disclosing anything.  We have lives outside of this forum and have more REAL buddies than we can handle so its not the same anymore.  IMHO, Roll with the times, please!!!

Samsara,
first time without use of masculine word ( I won't say it foul cause the way you use it. You feel glamor/sensation) you spoke something great! We come to dwell in sajha just to get some fun and we are going to do nothing for country talking some political stuff and get satisfaction of virtual realm of greatness.
" Palayanbaadi soch raheka manisharule desh ra saskritiko kura garnu bekar cha". Mind it " we will not be raping aishwarya when we masturbate looking at her Post cards" "Moreover, she is not nude when you dreaming of taking off her cloths". So, dudes stop panicking about where sajha is heading we getting lot out of it.

If sajha was in the hands of nepe and his co politicians, they would make sajha a political forum.

there is a subsection called politics in sajha so be there hope you find your buddies.

It's not talking only about a/political things, it's about how we talk which has been deteriorated. It seems that we be too cool if we use very vulgar language and the respect and kindness to others are alien to Sajha Members.

It is not what we talk is remembered by all, but the the quality of language and  its good taste is appreciated by all. There is an urgent need to learn some humility in life.

Jaya Nepal, Jaya Sajha!!!

Samsara, Rewire, Syaku and friends,

Impermanence is nature. That includes the cyber world. Therefore there is a wisdom in embracing the change and adapting to what Sajha has evolved into. I fully agree with that.

In the same vein, I would also like to caution that what we see today might not be permanent.

A time might come when, to the majority of the cyber-citizens, a little bit of warmth and respect might be more desirable than the careless fun at their expense and the cyber civilization might evolve accordingly.

So don’t live in this illusion that you (how you have described) are the ultimate supreme species and this is the ultimate cyber civilization.

Cyber world is still at the infancy of it’s creation and it has a whole lot of evolution to go through to reach to a relatively stable equilibrium.

Or they say so.

Nepe

Hey hey Nepe, where da hell did you even get this line from?  Can't handle the truth I posted earlier?  You have probs with the way peeps communicate?  Hell, thats how I talk to peeps I know everyday and they don't have a problem with it, so why is there a prob in the VIRTUAL world.  IMO, Looks like you wanna be the cyber police monitoring every damn discussions out there, banning all who do not confirm to your tailored specifications.  Listen man, to that I'd flip a bird and say no thank you!  Damn, you'd be a perfect fit for Red China's Communication Ministry...Peeps with your mentality have still made youtube a banned site there dude!

Ha ha ha Nepa Maharaaaj,

Impermanence is nature rey ? ha ha ha Nasaa na Gadha. You ain't no difference than anyone else here. Dun try and put yourself in a pedestal AGAIN like you are better than others here. Impermanence like your Republic Political Movement(where your buddies maoists regularly come and take a piss at your expense?) ? AND THE SOOTHSAYER NEPE PREDICTS THAT THIS WILL NOT BE PERMANENT(duh !! We don't know that). ha ha ha We are not the ultimate supreme species(he would rather have it as a exclusive club where only his like minded freinds are welcome right?).

Nepe,"Cyber world is still at the infancy of it’s creation and it has a whole lot of evolution to go through to reach to a relatively stable equilibrium." OH REALLY NEPE GORE !!! Next you know he will say he invent it too. ha ha ha

>Can't handle the TRUTH I posted earlier?

I handled. I said, “Yes, change is natural. Adaptation is wise”.

It is you who seems unable to handle or even get what I was saying instead.

I wasn’t being a cop. I was being a student of cyber civilization. Researches show that a mixed forum (anonymous posters + some real persons) is likely to have more vibrant and quality discussion than in a forum with all anonymous posters.

Does that make a sense to you ? Seriously.

I believe that many people out here have too much of a free time and when a mind is bored, its creativity sharpens...and the result-all the weird ideas and discussions. I am not surprised by the variety of topics we have but by the level of immaturity shown by the people-some of whom are well in their 30s.

Discussing issues in a polite manner can be fruitful but when people start "f---" words, it simply translates to a dog fight. Writing "f---" words doesn't make your argument stronger, nor does it look impressive to the readers' eyes. So, treat others with respect as you would in real life. I am sure if someone disagrees with your views, you don't start calling them "fags or something to that effect"  in real life. People hide in the virtual veil and blurt out their inner frustrations on  others. And, they feel better....Weird World!!!

"I was being a student of cyber civilization"

HAHAHAHHA   Nepe, So you go around telling peeps how they should behave according to what you think, right?  Read you posts here and all around sajha where you even blasted an innocent poster today for using the word 'rape'?  WTF?  Was I born yesterday, son?  You are a wannabe cop here, damn basic rights supressing commie!!  Seriously, post threads that show off your intellect than just blabber whatever comes outta your mouth.

And yeah, that Heraclitus' quote about 'change being the only constant' is so used and over abused that any wannabe philosophy 101 kid recites it like a parrot!  And how da fug does it even apply to this thread, smarty?

Narayangad;  You were right until you finished your lines.

There is a proverb" गिदडकी छाल् बदलि जा सकती है लेकिन आदते नही"  Somebody can not be change in their whole life it has been changed to part of their life.

Whenever there is a post regarding sajha, I feel that my input is sought. In the same regards, I know that it could seem unwarranted to some people. If you are outside in nature and comment that the temperature sucks then it's an observation of nature and nothing much can be done about it, but if you are inside someones house and complain that it's cold, then there's something that can be done about it by the owner.

I run and manage sajha so on one hand I can do things to make it better. On the other hand it's supposed to be a 'sajha' platform and any changes that I may impose may take away from its 'sajha' nature. Hence there is always a fine line that I tread when I decide to post my response in sajha.

In this case here, before this thread "Sajha getting unpopular" starts to turn into an unpopular thread, I wanted to mention a few things.

First of all, as we know it, everyone has different yearnings and goals. Some people want to be rich, some people want to be famous, some people want to climb mount everest, some people want to gawk at ladies all day at Tukucha. In the same context if we personify websites then these have certain yearnings or goals too. Sajha did not start off with goals of being popular. It did however start off in order to be of help to Nepalis. However popularity always helps to get the word out and to be of some kind of service to Nepalis living anywhere across the globe. Though popularity is important, what matters more is that the website is of some help to Nepalis. May it be a bored student stuck in a rural area missing company of Nepali friends, food or chatter. Or perhaps a Nepali graduate who found a new job in a different city and looking to find a roommate or connect with other Nepalis. Or a Nepali teenager who wants to feel part of the Nepali culture he/she is missing by growing up away from Nepal. Or a Nepali family who won DV and is looking for some helpful suggestions. In this regard, any assistance that sajha has provided is awesome and is infact helping itself reach its goals.

In helping out folks needing information and providing a cyberspace to exchange and share information and interact with other Nepali brothers and sisters, Sajha has become sort of a daily cyber convention.

One aspect of popularity that I hope for sajha is to be a cyber destination where we "Keep it Real". Sajha caters to such a diverse crowd that keeping it real for one kind of visitors may not be real for another kind of demography. This very fact itself whereby there is a difference of opinion on how things should be in itself points to the fact that sajha is "keeping it real"! Depending upon individual preferences, everyone is free to express their views of "real" which is a relative concept.

In this day of the internet when the lines between real world and cyberworld are diminishing quickly, reality is an important aspect that we need to uphold or enforce.

Like boston555 pointed out above, in real life you don't say "you fag" "fug you" etc to someone's face directly when you don't agree with their statements.

That is the kind of "keeping it real" that I am talking about.

There are lots of regular visitors in sajha who spend a lot of time in sajha and who love sajha as much as I do; some possibly more than me. And I would like to request them to help "keep it real" by interacting respectfully with others as they would in real life. That is the main message that I want to send through this message.

Moving on to some other topics of interest:
1. Automatic ban filters have been activated
- Due to few users who have consistently tried to jeopardize sajha by flooding sajha with crap and taking over all the threads with meaningless content or using scripts to direct sajha visitors to undefined locations, I have had to write a semi intelligent script that tracks user postings and automatically bans the user and their IP  if found to fall under suspicion of flooding the message board.

Some have and some may be incorrectly banned because of this automated system, but I keep a track to see if it was an unintentional ban in which case the bans are reversed asap.

If you are on a mission to monopolize something on sajha by posting it multiple times then you may fall under this automated ban filter.

2. Advertizing other websites in Sajha:
- It takes away from the sajha kurakani when people continuously advertise their sites. I try to be lenient and not care for first couple of times depending upon the site, but when people consistently advertise their sites using different means and tactics, it will be blocked more actively from now on.

I am just going with the flow so please excuse any exclusions or over inclusions. I think I have covered most of the things I wanted to say. Hope everyone is doing well. Happy New Year to everyone.

PS: I want to emphasize the following:
In this day of the internet when the lines between real world and cyberworld are diminishing quickly, reality is an important aspect that we need to uphold or enforce.

Like boston555 pointed out above, in real life you don't say "you fag" "fug you" etc to someone's face directly when you don't agree with their statements.
