Today while watching INDIAN IDOL , I was just pondering why all the contestants r sing only BOLLYWOOD/Filmi songs, later I asked myself: does Indian Music industry have anything else except that?

Then I watched NEPALI IDOL (Nepali Tara) where people were singing different type of songs from Lok Geet to Filmi git, Adhunik Geet to Hip Hop geet, Dohori geet to Pop/Rap geet. India also might have many types of music but I think Indian listers are dominated by HINDI FILMI SONGS.....!!! but in the case of NEPAL there r every type of listner and the most impt thing is EVERY SECTOR IS EQUALLY POPULAR and can COMPETE TO EACH OTHER:-)

Ask any Indian, if he can sing any single song except BOLLYWOOD item? Exception could be few ones who might be able to sing few lines GAZHAL of Jagjit N Pankaj Udas:-)

i dont quite agree with amazing because bollywood filmi songs have everything in it including folk and pop to rap and hip hop

i think you are the one to most watch the indian idol and many threADS IN sajha are dedicated to hindi songs

hindi songs/bollywood songs have quality in them compared to nepali ones.

after all i love nepali songs but i still sont believe that nepali songs are 10 times better than hindi songs

so to nepal listen to local FMS and find out the % fo their broadcast dedicated to hindi songs and u will know the influence of hindi songs in nepal

I guess its tough job until n unless u r a diehard FOLK FAN but if u talk about NEPAL most of the ppl listen it. Even if they do not FOLK SINGERS/Folk songs r so famous that u cant escape. Im sure all of us know names like PREM RAJA MAHAT, BIMA KUMARI DURA, SINDHU MALLA, BOM BAHDUR KARKI, HARI DEVI KOIRALA or if u r younger generation RAJU PARIYAR, LAXMI NEUPANE and the list goes on......!!! G ltd and Shakeen bro, Indian Music, no doubt is better but the main point i was focuing here was VARIETY OF SONGS sorry that topic gave wrong impression however in some filed NEPALI music seems to do much better than Hindi, for instance POP MUSIC.

I like every type of music except for Indian and Armenian, sounds terrible...

amazing bro...u dont listen to indian folks at all i think...and thats not awkward cause you are nepali and I should not even expect that from you...but let me tell u some good music composers...there are so many amazing classic singers be it ravishankar ( am sure u have heard him ..may be not),,ramnarayan..sudha something...

there are punjabi folks..u must have heard daler mehdi...sukhvinder singh,,..there are so many rajasthani folks..bengali folks and many more...( i dont them though)...and see u can find indian folk songs in so many bollywood movies...so we dont really have to hunt for those specific folk singers...do we?

so if u really talk of variety...considering the different castes of people living in india...nepal would be left way back even in variety my friend...what kind of folks do we have? i feel everyone of them come into the same category...so..i dont really think u r right even when u made the meaning of the post clear to me..well must be because everyone is different and think differently

u talk of pop music..i think u too talk there of the qualty...i wd love to hear the pop music of shaan...kaykay( my personal fav)..sonu...bombay rockers...kailasa...daler( tunak tunak tun is my favourite...even today i start dancing when i hear that ) rahter than nepali pop...i repeat again its a personal choice...

Amazing giving names of Nepali Folk Musicians and asking people to name few Indian folk Musicians I think is not fair, Simply cause we are not Indians ... So maybe you should go argue with Indians about this topic, I wanna see your ass getting whooped by the names they r gonna give you ...

Be it Narayan Gopal or Ila Arun, Nabin K Bhattarai or K.K , I think I like em all .... but just being Nepali doesn't make me biased towards Nepali music

besides I feel comparing Nepali Music to Hindi is like comparing Apples with Oranges, syaau ki suntala ... Hmmmmm ...
