Govt supports Chinese legislation on Taiwan

KOL Report

KATHMANDU, March 16 - The government believes that the anti-secession legislation enacted by the Chinese National People?s Congress will contribute to achieving the goal of reunification with Taiwan and extends its unequivocal support for the legislation that China has enacted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Nepal considers Taiwan an integral part of China. The view was ?in conformity with its [Nepal?s] long-held one-China policy,? said a statement issued Wednesday. (snn)

Thats nothing but "Kissing China's Ass". If we only knew what China offered Nepal in return for issuing that statement. China is doing all it can to intimidate Taiwan. Did they really have to pass that anti-succession law to bully Taiwan? Its a bunch of garbage.

Another note, our government should focus on their own problems and stop issuing such lame ass statement.

Absolutely not.

This frantic attempt to garner Chinese support will lead Nepal to a diplomatic disaster.

First, US secretary of state is in India to discuss on various issues including Nepal. Dr Rice is very concerned about China's recent decision to use power against Taiwan when needed. US is terribly concerned about growing Chinese economic and military might in the region.

Nepal might be the first country to express this kind of explicit support to China on the Taiwanese issue. Therefore, this will raise serious concerns to America in the first place.
India is also deeply disurbed by Pakistani ambassador's remarks about his country's willingness to supply arms to Nepal.

Gyanendra's diplomatic advisor have seriously failed to address the importance of a balanced diplomacy. You cannot ignore to America's and India's influence even though China's cooperation is also equally important. A country like Nepal should not tease the big bullies.

All this makes sure that Gyanendra has lost his faith on getting international support. But China will not and cannot afford to protect Nepal's interest in the international arena single handedly.
The latest announcement reflects how vulnerable the new government has felt of itself so soon. All this because of the lack of common sense that Civil liberties cannot be banned in the 21 st century.

Mind you Gyanendra and Rameshnath Pandeyji, you don't have nuclear capabilities as North Korea has to tease the big brother- I mean America.

Gyanendra's diplomatic absurdity is slowly paving the way to make Nepal a play ground for vested international interests.
Let's hope our country won't be transformed to Afghanistan in few years.

Thank You Bedrock and newuser,
I too deem it a failed diplomacy of too much China relying. It is ok, we have to take in consideration China's interest, but not this far. Genuinely when over half the island population is for status quo finally leding to peaceful unification, China's threat are counterproductive, and Nepal jumping to voice support for China's aggressiveness is nothing less than ass kissing. Balancing the diplomatic circle, specialy when few friends are left supporting the current government is what the King's cabinet should do.
